Media trial
The dialogue was arranged to view the politicisation of the term 'Media Trial' and to view how far does it prevail in the profession. Media Trial was defined as a situation wherein media itself starts judging the good and bad of a case. The discussants concluded that media trial is a problem which could not be justified by quoting international precedents. Most of the journalists in Pakistan are considered as black-mailers and they target particular group or individuals for their own ulterior motives. Some others bid to build public opinion for or against something without having substantial proofs, facts and supporting documents.

The term, in context with journalism in Pakistan, was defined as the use of media by the party in power to victimise the political opponents. The role of media could be made more positive only if it succeeds in breaking the shackles of the state and the market control. The economic independence of the press could help it make more independent and professional policies.
