Two
of JRC team members and well known Pakistani news photographers, Azher
Jafri and Rahat Ali Dar took their work to India. Their exhibition of fifty
photographs called Focus on Pakistan well captivated Indian audience at
two places, both at the Sahmat Conference and the Press Club of India,
New Delhi, for three days each at the premises. It displays ordinary life
and the social issues in Pakistan promoting awareness visually in the range
of poverty, economic differentiation, religious fundamentalism, livelihood,
human and child rights, and the plight of environmentally etc.
It was first ever photographic
exhibition of its kind in the history of Indo-Pak and so was received warmly
by the Indian print and electronic media, art lovers and populace alike.
Many newspapers i.e. The Hindustan Times, The Times of India, The Indian
Express and others covered Focus on Pakistan significantly. Senior Journalist
and writer Khushwant Singh who also inaugurated exhibition at the Press
Club of India, New Delhi highlighted and praised this unique initiation
in his famous weekly column. Not only that, not less than ten satellite
channels and Radio stations including Star Plus and Doordarshen took it
upon themselves to invite the JRC photographers to speak for Focus on
JRC believes that such efforts
will unfold new vistas of engagement and an environment of dialogue professionally
among Indo-Pak media people. |
