CODE OF ETHICS FOR PRESS
Code of Ethics:- The Print
media would promote national interests ,and respect religious and cultural
norms and values and adhere to the established principles of professional
conduct and precepts of freedom of expression as guaranteed in the Constitution.
The following are to be avoided in any form of publication such as news
items, articles, editorials, features, cartoons, photographs
and advertisements:

Anything against
the state or the constitution; |
| b) |
Immorality, obscenity and
nudity; |
| c) |
Vulgar and derogatory expressions
against individuals, groups and institutions; |
| d) |
Allegations commonly known
to be false and malicious against public figures, other individuals, groups
and institutions; |
| e) |
Arousing of sectarian, parochial,
provincial, ethnic or class hatred; |
| f) |
Glamorising of crime and
criminals/terrorists. |
| g) |
Identifying victims or terrorists
by religious, sectarian or ethnic affiliation; and Incitement to violence. |

Off-the record
briefings and remarks should not be published and embargoes on release
date and time of news, articles and pictures should be strictly observed. |

All paid commercial announcements,
articles and advertisements should be indicated as such. |

Corrections/denials should
be published promptly and prominently and on the same page as the original
story. |
|
iv)
|
The press shall refrain
from publishing anything likely to bring into hatred and contempt any friendly
government/ the Head of any friendly State/Government of any report in
a manner that may jeoperdise Pakistan's foreign relations or national security
interests. |

|
The press shall refrain
from publishing anything likely to undermine the image, role, morale or
loyalty and allegiance of the defence forces and the civil-armed forces. |
